Graham, CEO of Reptile, explains why engineers, programmers/coders and designers should support no-code tools.
No-code decouples programming languages and syntax from logic, and instead take a visual approach to software development to enable rapid delivery. In this sense, no-code is like low-code development.
The enhanced agility enabled by low-code/no-code development allows acceleration for the time-to-market process, increases productivity, reduces costs, and drives innovation.
No-code is creating a new revolution in tech (and the world) because it's giving the power of software development to the masses. It's no longer the small percentage of the world that can code that can develop their idea.
The basic difference between a developer and a programmer is the breadth of their work.
The titles of developers and programmers are interchangeable. They are more experienced code-writers and are often responsible for overseeing a project from start to finish.
A coder is considered the least experienced programmer and is often a beginner in the field, often skilled in just one coding language. Sometimes coders are also called junior programmers or developers.
Software engineers are of the highest level among all, they are the most expert coders around. As an engineer you’re expected to be capable of designing a system.
Let’s look back to 2007 when Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft said in an interview with USA Today
“There’s no chance that the iPhone is going to get any significant market share. No chance.”
All disruptive technological shifts grin naysayers. And, as in this case, his prediction turned out wrong.
I’ve been working in this business now for over 15 years and low-code/no-code is not set to replace the work of existing engineers; however no-code could reach a similar ubiquity in the future, it’s certainly not a passing fad as some might say. It doesn’t make coding redundant.
On the contrary, no-code has the potential to massively improve the routine work of engineers, developers, and programmers alike. It accelerates productivity immensely; it saves countless hours of work.
Yes, software engineers should be reaching out for it as it’s the most exciting thing happening in the IT sector now.
I’d like to compare this no-code revolution to the use of the conveyer belt by Henry Ford over 100 years ago.
“Along with interchangeable parts, this process greatly sped up the assembly of individual units, making it possible for Ford to produce cars faster and more cheaply than had ever been done before,” reviews Matthew Goyette in his article 100 Years After Ford: Where the Conveyor Belt Has Taken Us
If you are looking to build an app or software, here are five reasons why you should use a no-code platform.
To explain a bit more...
Our newly developed no-code platform Reptile is cost-efficient and affordable. First, it enables you to build a custom app five-time cheaper than the equivalent app built through a development agency. You can use Reptile for as many pages as you want.
Of course, depending on the functionality of the app, the cost might increase, but with the additional benefit, you should consider it.
A thought … will it generate higher revenues if you’re having a custom-built app?
Your business decides to get an app. You have an idea. You want to validate your idea as quickly as possible. This is where our new modular app platform Reptile comes in: we assemble it quickly from our existing component library with little or no coding knowledge required.
It offers the most efficient way yet to speedily build a robust app with and support included.
Reptile automatically builds apps from designs created on the platform. Third-party functions are added through a flexible API interface. And Reptile sits on a secure, enterprise-equipped, .net infrastructure.
It’s easy to use (‘insanely easy’ – see Design apps without limits) and has all the features you need for making a unique app and website simultaneously.
A ready-built set of components enables the rapid assembly of apps and built-in after-launch maintenance. To avoid restrictions on creativity, we can combine no-code, automated builds, with low-code factory-assisted builds.
Apps are released in the client’s own account ensuring brand integrity and the monthly contract covers support, maintenance and upgrades.
Well, that’s also simple and fast, especially if you compare it to traditional coding. If you are familiar with WordPress or Google sheets, it’ll be easy for you to upload and to maintain the content.
Our visual user-friendly platform will give you the confidence to make the changes yourself and us the peace of mind that you can do it. There is no lag between you changing the content and it’s updated on the app seconds later.
As already mentioned above, Reptile has a user-friendly platform that is intuitive, easy to understand and to learn.
The interface and UI design of Reptile has been designed with the user in mind and everything has a logical flow to it. It’s clean (not cluttered) and as simple or as complicated as you want it. Each section is clearly labelled and is designed to avoid complications and errors.
We offer free tuition and a community site which might be of interest to you. There are lots of video tutorials, articles and tips on tackling design issues and they are all provided free.
The Reptile Community - a place to showcase skills and help those who need it – is open for registration now. It will go live as soon as we have enough people registering their skills.
The Community Forum will enable anyone to ask questions and have them answered by experts. And it’s also a place where you can hire, or get hired.
I’m excited about no-code as it gives more opportunities who can create software and apps and lots of people can participate in creating the future who would otherwise have been shut out.
That’s all incredibly good news as increases in productivity helps everyone and it also makes more fun. Programmers are always trying to build better apps, faster and cleaner (the car industry is also trying to do the same!).
We have spent ten years constantly developing and refining our app-building platform. The latest version, Reptile, enables us to build a custom app five-times cheaper than the equivalent app built through a development agency.
We have built a set of robust modules to cover everything a typical enterprise app needs. Power your business with an affordable bespoke app.
Our new modular app platform is the most efficient way yet to build and support apps. Imagine the business app of your dreams and we assemble it quickly from our existing component library.
Automated builds ensure consistency of code with maintenance, upgrades and support included for a fixed fee.
From our expert mobile UX designers to the technical team who can integrate the app into your network, we provide a dedicated team to support you all the way.
We are continuously looking for ways to improve things using technology. As such, we’ve built many apps that we’re proud of, and if you are interested, here is a link to a few of our recent achievements we’d like to share with you.
